By using the Montessori Teaching Model I am able to teach the children practical life skills along with academic skills. The Montessori Model is a nature based model where I am able to bring the classroom to nature and nature into the classroom. Many of the lesson I teach have multiple layers and steps. This shows the children how everything is connected. Along with teaching a classroom of 24 children, I also communicate with parents on almost a daily basis. I communicate lessons happening in the classroom, events going on at the school as well as milestones reached, behaviors that have emerged, fun activities we do and many other topics. Keeping open communication with the families helps them to stay involved in what is going on in the classroom and helps them to connect with their children on another level when discussing school with them.I am also tasked with evaluating the children’s academic levels, preparing all lessons and lessons plans, managing the staff in my classroom (an associate teacher and multiple support staff), managing behaviors, training new staff that come into the classroom, keeping the classroom NH State License compliant, communicating and working with the other preschool teacher to keep our classrooms in sink and to come up with solutions to classroom issues such as behaviors and classroom management, keeping track of daily tracking sheets of children in attendance and filing those tracking sheets in the appropriate manner, answering the phone when administration staff isn’t available and managing morning staff to keep in compliance with NH State Licensing staff to children ratios.

As a Site Director I am in charge of an after school program site. I manage staff, create lesson plans for the 40+ children in the program and build long lasting, meaningful relationships with families and the staff at the school where the program is based. I help the children to learn problem solving skills, communication skills and help them to build self esteem by offering projects and activities that they will not only thrive in but will challenged by.

As the Assistant School Age Child Care Director I managed a program with 225+ children and a staff of 20+. Reported to the Director of School Age Child Care.My duties included record keeping, managing the CACFP food program, managing 3 separate after school sites, creating and cultivating relationships with the school staff at each site, maintaining all files for each child to ensure they are up to date and compliant with NH Child Care Licensing policies, maintaining all staff files to ensure that they are up to date and compliant with NH Child Care Licensing policies, managing staff schedules, interviewing and onboarding new staff, dismissing staff, creating lesson plans, maintaining budgets, behavior management, cultivating and maintaining relationships with parents and guardians and communicating with staff and parents and guardians on a daily basis.
