After my internetship at High Desert House Calls/Pet Hospital, I was hired on as a full-time Veterinary Assistant. I performed and have improved upon my holding skills for blood draws, placing catheters, nail trimming, anal gland expressions, for ultrasounds, x-rays, and several other positions needed for the doctor to exam a patient. I am currently working on draw blood and placing IV catheters myself. Currently, I have taken several x-rays of patients, collect patient history, load surgery or drop-off patients, scrub patients for surgery, and help monitor patients under anesthesia. I also have learned how to use IDEXX software and machines for our in-house bloodwork and for sending out samples.

During my Inter ship at High Desert House Calls/Pet Hospital, I learned and practiced animal holding techniques for blood draws on cats and dogs, IV Catheter placing, and various others while the doctor examines each patient. I learned several sanitation skills for cleaning kennels, examination and common rooms, surgery room, and scrubbing patients for surgery. Started practicing monitoring patients while under anesthesia and gathering patient history.
