I am a recent graduate from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in both sociology and women’s and gender studies. I have over six years of experience serving the intellectual/developmental disability (IDD) population. My first experience supporting individuals with IDDs dates back to 2015, when I joined an inclusive high school physical education program that focused on providing peer support to students in the special education program. I have volunteered with the San Angelo Autism Resource Center, where I earned an Advanced Care Training certificate in 2017. I also had the privilege of volunteering with the San Angelo Special Olympics and Deaf Olympics from 2015 to 2017. During my time at Texas A&M University, I served on the Aggie Emeralds Service/Philanthropy Committee, where I planned and executed collaborations with Aggie ACHIEVE, the BEE Community, and other local organizations supporting the IDD community. I provided one-on-one behavior therapy to a caseload of five to eight children as a Registered Behavior Technician at BlueSprig Pediatrics. I also have experience in data entry, administrative assistance, and youth engagement via my roles as a Senior Counselor at Prude Ranch Summer Camp, Clerical Runner at Bruchez & Goss, and Intern at Pride Community Center. During my part-time position as a clerical runner for Bruchez & Goss, I gained experience utilizing various computer softwares to update and maintain confidential databases and filing systems. I assisted the Office Manager, File Clerk, and four Legal Assistants with various daily administrative tasks such as answering calls and emails, creating labels, scanning documents, monitoring inventory, mailing and faxing legal documents, and scheduling meetings. During my last semester at A&M, I completed an internship with a local nonprofit, the Pride Community Center of the Brazos Valley. In this position, I researched and compiled relevant legislation, planned and facilitated educational public listening sessions, and managed social media campaigns for the LGBTQ+ legislation project. I collaborated with the Executive Director to manage and curate social media content for the organization, contributing to a 70% increase in visibility and a 53% increase in user engagement across Instagram and Facebook.
