Managing all public relations and social media; identifying and coordinating media opportunities; assisting in event preparation and execution; and creating marketing materials for special events, promotions, and campaigns.

Working in the university’s Department of Journalism and Strategic Media, my assistantship hours are spent maintaining the department website, disseminating department news via social media channels, working under an assistant professor aiding in research, grading, or writing, and serving as Meeman 901 Strategies’ firm director.

Responsible for meeting a weekly quota of blog posts to the Choose901 website, as well as pitching, writing, and editing stories and blog content that will be shared across social media. I also assist in the set-up and execution of events in the community with other team members.

Responsibilities ranged from doing tour press to working on marketing pitches for potential clients. I gained new experiences in key facets of public relations including making and updating media lists and scheduling interviews. While planning and assisting in the red carpet launch of the George Jones Museum in Nashville, event planning and execution was a crucial part of the internship program.

The committee’s goal is to advise and assist in developing programs to enhance the image of the University.
