Customers were approached, surveyed, had their needs met and then convinced there was a bigger picture to be considered. Member / PresidentNeedham Babysitting Co-Operative 2000 - 2006Needham, MaThe Needham Babysitting Cooperative was founded in the 1980's for families seeking to swap babysitting duties with other families. Membership was kept to 30 families. And a financial compensation algorithm was set up to work for 30 families. In this organization, scheduling responsibilities rotate every month. President 2003-2004.Both before and after my presidency, I was an active participant in the leadership of the group. * In 2000, families would phone in their monthly schedule to the secretary and request swaps. In the next few years, I, along with a few others convinced our 30 families to use email for communication instead of the phone.* The economic algorithm was hardwired to work with 30 families in the organization, but did not scale with more, or fewer families. Because of this, when the membership number dropped, the currency weakened. After years of running with fewer than 30 families every month (because it would take a few months to fill a vacancy), the economy became skewed and fewer swap requests were being filled. This was problematic for smooth function of the organization. I chose to reset the economy and to scale the algorithm.* Convinced the organization to migrate to a web-based scheduling system. Collaborated with Geophile.com to develop a customized scheduling system.
