    I study the design and fabrication of disordered photonic materials. We use the principles of colloidal self-assembly to make bulk materials with disordered nanostructures that selectively interact with certain wavelengths of visible and near-visible light. We use Monte Carlo simulations of light propagation to predict the properties of these materials and inversely design their properties. This technology can be applied to make angle-independent structural colors, omni-directional optical filters, and more.
