Ensure consistent brand communications across multiple platforms and direct a cross-departmental effort to develop and disseminate persuasive content through web, print, digital, and social media channels. Rebuilt the school’s communications program and worked with senior leadership to repair the school’s reputation. Audited the School’s marketing and communications process, bringing all activities under the control of the director of communications and reordered priorities and budget expenditures to support a strategic and integrated marketing communications plan. Conceptualized, planned, and coordinated strategic communications activities to strengthen relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including alumni, donors, law firms, legislators, judges, business and government leaders, and national and local media. Led the UNC School of Law web team in the redesign of the school’s first website, requiring management of all stakeholders, extensive information gathering and content development, definition and prioritization of requirements, creation of the site navigation plan and design, staff training, and coordination of site launch.

Responsible for the execution of all marketing communications activities to support the implementation of business information systems in manufacturing and distribution industries. Established tools and structures needed to support future marketing activities. Key duties included building and management of marketing databases, creation of marketing plans and coordination of a trade show strategy.

Promoted within five weeks to direct the planning, production, and execution of all communications activities for a member-supported, not-for-profit organization advocating for a strong U.S. textile and apparel industry. Developed a strategic plan for slowing a three-year decline in seminar attendance, resulting in doubling the number of participants by the second year. Organized the company’s annual appearance at the textile and apparel industry’s largest trade show, requiring the movement of $5 million in equipment and 87 employees to Atlanta for five days. Created a strategic plan to maximize trade show effectiveness, which called for direct mail campaigns, member engagement efforts and a media plan, all of which resulted in over 3,000 visitors to the booth, 10 new members companies and front-page coverage by major industry publications.

Co-owner of a design firm that provided creative solutions for marketing challenges. Responsible for campaign strategy development, new business development, and the day-to-day operation of the firm, as well as graphic design and content creation. Client base included athletic/health clubs in the Raleigh/Durham area and three clubs in the Northern Virginia area; The Medical Foundation of N.C.; BlueCross BlueShield of NC;T. Rowe Price; and Milliken and Company. Fulshaw/Ward profited in its first year of operation.
