In this position I helped review and recruit entries for AAAS's Kavli Science Journalism Award. I reached out to journalists from around the world to submit their work, reviewed hundreds of entries to determine if they qualified for the award, and assisted in assigning entries to panels of scientists to check them for scientific accuracy. Near the end of my internship I created a spreadsheet summarizing the number of entries from different countries and types of entries, and wrote an announcement for the AAAS Kavli Science Journalism Award lecture series. In this role I was able to become familiar with various topics and types of science journalism, learned to assess mass amounts of content quicky and find the salient details, and had the opportunity to work in a team focused on science advocacy and communication.
