Mr. Gering has over 12 years of experience editing, proofreading, and… Show more August Gering is a senior editor/writer in RTI’s Multimedia Communication Services division, where he serves as the point of contact for more than 50 technical staff members in the Services Accountability Improvement System project, Research Computing Division, and Education and Workforce Development division. He also serves as lead editor on the National Science Foundation Science and Engineering Indicators project. Mr. Gering has over 12 years of experience editing, proofreading, and coordinating the production of various publications in the social sciences and humanities, including technical reports, proposals, grants, books, and journal articles. He edits documents for clarity, grammar, spelling, and consistency of format and style, using multiple style guides to ensure conformity with RTI, government, and other relevant standards. Mr. Gering works with staff to incorporate changes made by authors and reviewers and rewrites as necessary. Mr. Gering also coordinates the work of other editorial, document preparation, graphics, and web development personnel and of offsite vendors to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials to both internal and external clients. He has trained senior- and junior-level editors for various projects, created training materials for these editors, and provided feedback on their work. Before coming to RTI, he was an assistant managing editor (2005–06) and the editorial manager (2006–08) for Duke Mathematical Journal at Duke University Press, a manuscript editor at the University of Illinois Press, and an instructor in the Department of English at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
