August Wichert is the Environment and Climate Sustainability Lead at the UN Global Compact Network Canada, where he oversees the organization’s national environment and climate programme portfolio. He holds a BSc in Environmental Biology and an MEng in Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto, and has past work experience in environmental assessment, corporate services, scientific fieldwork, and the federal public service. He maintains a strong interest in biodiversity, climate change, water resource sustainability, and low-impact design. In the work world, August seeks to leverage his cross-disciplinary expertise in search of creative but feasible solutions to the environmental crises of our day and age.In the world outside work, August is a professional novelist, public speaker, and wetland enthusiast with a fondness for pond bugs.
