I am a dedicated and passionate Zoologist with a specialization in Cell Biology and Genetics, holding both a B.Sc. in Zoology from the University of Ilorin (2019) and a M.Sc. from the University of Ibadan (2024). My academic journey has been enriched with hands-on research experience in cellular parasitology and genotoxicity. My research interests lie at the intersection of cellular parasitology, genotoxicity, and genetic diseases.During my undergraduate studies, I researched the antioxidant responses and genotoxic potential in fish species from water bodies in Kwara State, Nigeria. It was the first time this test was carried out on water bodies in this region. It was a rich experience which exposed me to two bioassays (micronucleus and comet assays). I also evaluated the effect of domestic wastes and industrial effluents on fishes in these water bodies. Research is not complete if it simply serves the researcher; therefore, this project was published in 2022 as a contribution to the scientific community.I went on to further my career at the University of Ibadan where I was able to carrying out molecular research using parasites. I worked on the epidemiology of Schistosomiasis in a rural community and for the first time I attempted to design a diagnostic protocol for analyzing the existence of single sex schistosome worms in humans. I learnt molecular skills such as DNA extraction, PCR and electrophoresis.I’ve also had the opportunity to work as a Field Research Assistant at the Cellular Parasitology Unit, Ibadan, where I honed my skills in sample collection and rapid on-site testing. I’m also an academic writer, I believe there the bridge between lab work and the right audience lies in quality writing. I sure give attention to detail while writing because I understand that what I do has a larger impact.I am excited to contribute to important initiatives, interact with fellow academics, and push the limits of scientific discovery in these domains.
