Oversees all aspects of the project life-cycle and liaises with the Implementing Partner to identify areas for improvement, on risk assessments and management strategies and evidencing outcomes. 3. In consultation with IDRF Canada and the Project Director of the Department of Pediatrics, provides leadership where technical deficiencies existed. 4. Offers guidance & contributes to development/revision of project documents and timely implementation of activities by spearheading improved tracking and recording systems. 5. Together with the financial team compiles succinct, accurate and verifiable narrative and financial (monthly/quarterly/annual) reports on the project status to HQ in keeping with appropriate reporting modalities and formats 6. Acts as the liaison, keeps IDRF and Implementing Partner informed of successes, potential challenges, lessons learned and best practices7. HCP was an innovative team (of Johns Hopkins University Center for Communication Programs, Save the Children USA, and the International HIV/AIDS Alliance) with the overall aim of promoting health competent societies by advancing the field of community mobilization, development, and health communication. In Zambia, HCP’s goal was to support communities, households and individuals to take positive health action through strengthening community-based systems and networks, mobilizing leaders and youth, and promoting the change of harmful social and gender norms. HCP in Chongwe district was operational through 17 health centers (of the 22 in the district) to strengthen and build capacity of 150 communities (NHCs / CBOs) and 50 peer leaders. At a district level, HCP played a key role in the implementation of community mobilization and communication strategies for HIV and AIDS, maternal newborn and child health, reproductive health, and malaria, and through active participation in district structures such as the district malaria task force, district AIDS task force, and district health management team’s technical committee and programs like Child Health Week, World Malaria Day, World AIDS Day. This was all done on a voluntary basis using my talent to share what I have with the less privileged. For two years from 2005 to 2006 I contributed K200, 000 (US$ 60) every month from my salary to this organization to mobilize funds for the under privileged children and widows.Accomplishments:1. Developed a 15 member project committee to manage the work of the project.2. Wrote a five year strategic plan for the project in 2004.3. Trained community members in resource mobilization and developed a project proposal which was submitted to CHAZ and Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) in 2004.4. Facilitated collection of local resources within the church to support 20 orphans and vulnerable children and seven widows who were church members (for school requirements and with small capital to start businesses).5. ZMK 2,000,000 (US$ 570) given to seven widows to start a chicken rearing project which they identified themselves. In the same year ZMK 1,000,000 (US$ 285) given to 20 OVC to start a small business identified by themselves.6. As a result of increased external support from Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia, Norwegian Church Aid, ECR and others, 200 OVC are supported with uniforms, shoes, and nutritional supplements and 80 OVC are enrolled in the modern one by two classroom block community school constructed by the project. Five malaria agents trained in each of the 12 villages under Chainda Health Centre, resulting in seeking early treatment for fever, increased uptake of IPT by pregnant women, increased use of ITNs, and increased community acceptance of the IRS program.2. With support from CCF coordinated an indoor residual spraying of more than 1,000 households in 2001 and 2002 leading to a drastic reduction of malaria cases under Chainda Health Centre in the years this program was implemented. 3. Facilitated the procurement and distribution of 600 insecticide-treated mosquito nets in 2002 to under five children and pregnant women from families supported by the organization.4. Provided technical support and supervised the construction of 50 VIP latrines and construction of 10 protected wells in communities under Chainda Health Centre with financial support from CCF in 2003 leading to reduction of diarrhea. Services provided by the health centre included out-patient department services, reproductive health services such as antenatal, deliveries, postnatal, and family planning, child health services, environmental health services such as promotion of clean and safe water supply, sanitation services and food hygiene.Accomplishments:1. Chainda Health Centre met indicator targets every year and was named a model to other health facilities in 2004.2. Facilitated the involvement and participation of communities in health planning cycle leading to community ownership of health and the strengthening of community participation in the health care system to bring quality health care as close to the family as possible under Chainda Health Centre’s catchment area. 3. As health center team leader was responsible for the supervision and use of financial and material resources received from government for renovation and electrification of Chainda Health Centre, three staff houses, and construction of four VIP latrines in 2003. Auditors were satisfied with the work done and happy that so much was accomplished with very little. 4. Promoted construction and use of pit latrines through monthly village visitations leading to many households from 12 villages under Chainda Health Centre valuing the use of pit latrines, hand washing after using the latrine, and chlorination of water using domestic chlorine resulting in decreased incidence of diarrhea.
