With over 15 years of experience in the maritime industry, I have a passion for improving performance, quality and digitalisation.A Master of Science in Organisational Science, a Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture, and a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, enable me to apply data-driven and customer-centric approaches to solve complex problems and optimise processes. Accountable for Fleet Management, Technical Operations Support and Vessel IT while developing and execute a Short-, Mid- and Long-Term Strategy to advance the day-to-day technical operations of 50+ Ultra-/Supramax bulk carriers. Manufacturing Engineering ManagerDamen Shipyards Singapore Pte Ltd Jan 2017 - Dec 2018In this role I developed an Engineering department from scratch to a skilled and competent multicultural operations team, consisting of Engineering, Material Coordination and Document Control. Next to the main managerial tasks and responsibilities i.a. budget, forecast, project management, resource allocation and training requirements, my focus was on process improvement and waste reduction with the introduction of the LEAN Manufacturing methodology. By introducing the LEAN fundamentals (5S, Visual management, Standard processes and Continuous Improvement), I designed and deployed efficient and standardised departmental and interdepartmental processes and created a repeatable set of instructions to make the business run efficiently and reduce defects.With my Black Belt project I managed to reduce the variance of the printing process duration significantly and reduced the process cost by > 90%, which lead to a > 6 sigma process. * Strengthened the departments culture and efficiency by merging teams and procedures of the engineering and material coordination departments.* Introduced LEAN methodology at a number of operational departments to reduce waste and optimise productivity through maintaining an orderly workplace and standardised processes to achieve more consistent operational results, seamless business operations and ensuring quality and efficiency.* Adopted a continuous improvement approach, which significantly increased productivity, employee satisfaction/morale, and decreased delivery times and employee turnover rate.* Integrated ERP system with production process to raise overall business performance.* Employed best practices and procedures that significantly generated profits of more than 15% within the engineering department.
