Managing Fleet Management, Technical Operations Support and Vessel IT to develop and execute a Short-, Mid- and Long-Term Strategy for the day-to-day technical operations of 50+ Ultra-/Supramax bulk carriers.  With a strong focus on both managing and enhancing the performance of the day-to-day technical operations, as well as improving and preparing the fleet to be future-ready on Digitalization, Automation, Energy savings, Compliance, Cost-efficiency & Organizational processes and tools.

With a main focus on Fleet Energy Management, developed and deployed a Vessel Performance Framework involving digitalisation of vessel reporting, IoT sensor data collection, ship to shore data transfer, analytics and visual management.The framework supported operations in data driven decision making and resulted in an average 8% increase of fuel efficiency per annum by behaviour influence.Leading a number of decarbonisation initiatives to support the journey to GHG emission reduction. Decarbonisation initiatives included alternative energy concepts, digitalisation and automation to provide analytics for data driven decision making, and fleet operational- and design measures to increase fuel efficiency.Introducing operational excellence concepts in day-to-day processes and creating awareness to potential cost savings by providing LEAN workshops and company wide publications.

In this role I developed an Engineering department from scratch to a skilled and competent multicultural operations team, consisting of Engineering, Material Coordination and Document Control. Next to the main managerial tasks and responsibilities i.a. budget, forecast, project management, resource allocation and training requirements, my focus was on process improvement and waste reduction with the introduction of the LEAN Manufacturing methodology. By introducing the LEAN fundamentals (5S, Visual management, Standard processes and Continuous Improvement), I designed and deployed efficient and standardised departmental and interdepartmental processes and created a repeatable set of instructions to make the business run efficiently and reduce defects.With my Black Belt project I managed to reduce the variance of the printing process duration significantly and reduced the process cost by > 90%, which lead to a > 6 sigma process. * Strengthened the departments culture and efficiency by merging teams and procedures of the engineering and material coordination departments.* Introduced LEAN methodology at a number of operational departments to reduce waste and optimise productivity through maintaining an orderly workplace and standardised processes to achieve more consistent operational results, seamless business operations and ensuring quality and efficiency.* Adopted a continuous improvement approach, which significantly increased productivity, employee satisfaction/morale, and decreased delivery times and employee turnover rate.* Integrated ERP system with production process to raise overall business performance.* Employed best practices and procedures that significantly generated profits of more than 15% within the engineering department.

In this role I improved and expanded the on-site engineering department and cultivated strong and professional relationships with stakeholders i.a. the local shipyard and Headquarter Engineering, to increase transparency that led to better engineering output and decision making. I streamlined the company's core processes by boosting productivity within the engineering process. Reporting to the manager engineering at the headquarter in The Netherlands regarding day-to-day activities, operational performance, and overall growth of the department.* Provided on-site engineering services, comprising of offering technical advice, supervising on site staff, and ensuring all milestones achieved within time and under budget.* Created and executed engineering processes to create functional products, while supporting the local shipyard and the engineering department at HQ The Netherlands.* Established an engineering department with 35 FTE at the local shipyard based on standardization of products, engineering production, and on-site engineering processes.
