About Aurelia Mcnicol

I am a life long learner who loves to stretch both my students and staff through creative & inquisitive pathways. I particularly enjoy the breadth of possibilities cross curricular projects offer, especially when they are linked to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and personalised programmes in connection with Universities such as MIT, Juilliard, EPFL, PSI, etc... A qualified teacher in World Languages, over the years I have had the great privilege of teaching pupils with a large scope of age and ability, from 3 year old 'ducklings' in nursery and pre-prep schools to 18 year old students celebrating French Literature as part of their mother tongue examination for the IB. I have a degree in Modern Arts from la Sorbonne, Paris and I am completely bilingual in French & English with a 'previously good/currently rusty' knowledge of German. I love every aspect of my position, from recruitment and selection of students, communication with students, parents, house masters, our learning support team, subject teachers, heads of faculty, our IGCSE, IB, CAS, EE coordinators. I also thoroughly enjoy being an Accreditation Consultant for NEASC and CIS, including participating in joint IB, NEASC, CIS inspections. Before entering teaching, I was the Editor at Lakeland (Mail Order-led kitchenware company in the UK). During my three years at Lakeland, turnover increased from £85m to £120m. This was acknowledged to be partly due to the increase in catalogue production from 16 to 20 per year under my guidance.Previously, I was Catalogue and E-commerce Manager within the Copyrights Group (trading as Peter Rabbit and Friends). Their flagship website, which I developed and was responsible for, won the Computer Weekly E-Business Excellence Award in November 2001 (receiving around 406,000 hits a month from 8,100 customers and turnover averaged £12,500 a month).I am professional, creative, passionate, dedicated, conscientious, hard working, organised and extremely motivated.Specialities: - Curriculum Planning- Teacher, from early years to school leavers, specialising in the French IB. - Experience in designing, planning and executing effective marketing and sales activities that directly increase turnover. - Well developed creative and design skills, backed up by an art degree from La Sorbonne. - Over 20 years experience managing teams in high-pressure environments against deadlines with no margin for error.
