I was conducting my postdoctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Raul Radovitzky at the ISN (Institute for Soldiers Nanotechnologies) at MIT. I was interested in modeling the mechanical response of tissues and organs under extreme conditions such as blast or impact by modeling/simulating their (micro)structure. My research focused on brain tissue response under blast to better understand the outcomes from traumatic brain injury, and spongious bone multi-scale tissue response under impact. In addition, I was interested in quantifying the biomimicry of existing human tissue surrogates, i.e how these synthetic tissues can mimic the mechanical response of human tissue.To this end, I co-developed a scalable Finite Element code in C++ and Python dedicated to large-scale problems in Mechanics of Materials. - Large-scale explicit dynamic Finite Element simulations- Discontinuous Galerkin with cohesive zone models for fracture- Biomimicry computer analysis- Image-based meshing and modeling- Implementation (C++, Python)- Co-developer of a parallel FE solver for large-scale problems in Solid Mechanics
