Extensive rotation of the Finance department inclusive of Cashiering, Income Audit, Receivables and Payables sections. Management training at Director and Assistant Director of Finance level. Month-end closings of cluster properties, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting & analyses.

FHS is Europe's only student-organised summit that focuses on innovation and technology in hospitality. With a blend of tech savvy companies and "disruptive" startups we aim to give participants, both professional and student, the latest insights and interactions to new trends and upcoming technologies in our industry. The summit schedule will consist of three building blocks: presentations, workshops, and sponsorship stalls thus far confirmed by partners from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., Base7booking, SMART hoteliers, Fahrenheit 212, Utopia, Inc., ZZZleepandGo, Heineken, eHoteliers.com, and hospitalitynet.org. All of these elements will be led by companies either involved, or looking to be involved, in the innovative sector of the hospitality industry.

Attained greater practical understanding in the initial rotation of the major additional departments and divisions of the hotel; Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Accounting, Engineering, and Spa. Developed further knowledge of the Front Office with weekly rotational exposure throughout the Front Desk, Concierge, Guest Services, and Guest Relations departments. The reviewing of daily management practices and trainings, pre-shift briefing content, report analysis corresponding to room assignments, operational requisitions, and monthly Rooms P&L.Concluded with exposure to the Reservations, Revenue Management departments allowing for deepened understanding of the forecasting, budgeting, and sales aspect of the generated Rooms Revenue.Overall strengthened knowledge and understanding in Rooms Division; focused on applying the company philosophy, understanding further the global image and vision whilst executing a very local attitude and approach to the daily operation.

A six month internship with an initial orientation of the Rooms Division departments. Five consecutive months focused at the Front Desk learning the fundamentals of the operation. I became familiar with the global company standards and was a part of the mystery audit. Improved fluency with guest personalization, sale strategies, and consistency whilst adjusting to the foreign challenge of a delicate heritage and culture which Japan presents.This introduction to The Peninsula Company allowed for an insight to its philosophy, its objectives, its vision, and ultimately, its family.
