Position objectives:•To design and validate detailed and averaged simulation models of aircraft electrical equipment in collaboration with project stakeholders (Goodrich, Thales, DLR, Aeroconseil, etc.) aiming to develop the fully integrated electrical aircraft concept. •To devise power quality and stability assessment tools and techniques to enhance and update current design directives, recommendations, test procedures, and standards such as ABD0100, MIL-STD-704F, RTCA DO-160E, etc. •To perform system integration analysis on aircraft electrical network architectures under various configurations including electric engine start and fault conditions.Results:•Created models in SABER with full documentation and validated them against experimental results.•Projected power quality assessment techniques and methodologies.•Presented findings orally and in formal technical reports on a regular basis.•Improved control systems designs to cope with stringent response criteria.Project: Advanced Marine Electrical Propulsion Systems (AMEPS). Budget: £ 460,000.Position objective:To create detailed and simplified scalable simulation models of high power autotransformer-rectifiers, propellers and ship dynamics using Matlab/Simulink.Results•Developed simulation models in Simulink, including GUIs and full documentation.•Integrated subsystem models and addressed compatibility issues between system portions developed by two partners of the project in different simulation platforms.•Optimised models to significantly reduce simulation time and computational resources needed for simulation.•Contributed to numerous conferences and published in international scientific journals.Project: NECST. Led by Honeywell. Budget: £ 800,000.Position objectives: •To validate environmental control systems and enclosure simulation models.
