I am a recent Carleton University graduate holding a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering with a specialization in Space Systems Design, during which I have gained many skills and experiences that make me an effective engineer in-training. I led the aerostructures sub-team of Carleton's sounding rocket team, CU InSpace, where I spearheaded the design, analysis, documentation, manufacturing, testing, integration, and launch of our 10,000-ft capable subsonic rocket airframes. Between my third and fourth academic years, I completed a year-long engineering internship with the US Department of the Navy at Naval Air Weapons Station, China Lake, where I worked on novel defense systems under the Solid Propulsion branch. At China Lake I sharpened my engineering design, simulation, drawing, and presentation skills while under the mentorship of several expert senior engineers. For academic, extra-curricular, and industry projects I have designed for and done hands-on manufacturing of machined metal parts, fibre-reinforced composites, and FDM 3D-printed plastic components both hands-on in machine shops as well as facilitated manufacturing by liaising with external contractors. My projects have taught me how to design multi-hundred component systems using custom fabricated components, commercial parts, and modified commercial parts while adhering to specifications, standards, in addition to strict mass, volume, monetary, time, and power budgets. In my free time I enjoy working on design competitions, teaching myself electronics hardware and software, and keeping up with the advances in the space sector and discoveries in the field of astronomy. With my love of spaceflight and strong engineering background, I hope to employ my skills and experience to do my part to bring us one step closer to our place in the stars!
