Hi there! I'm Rory. I'm a writer, reader, organizer, culture-consumer, and information professional.I'm also a library assistant at Beachwood City Schools for grades K-5 and a recent grad from Kent State University. At KSU, I completed my Master of Library and Information Science with a focus on cultural heritage informatics, as well as my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. I have strong skills in library services, research, collection maintenance, writing, and mass communication.As Beachwood's elementary school library assistant, I work between two elementary schools to assist teachers and students in grades K-5 with finding materials to support curriculum and reading levels. I also maintain the collections (including development and weeding), perform circulation duties, and support our teacher-librarian in any ways I can. I enjoy building personal relationships with students and assisting in our lunchtime book club. My main goal is to help each student find reading materials that they find exciting and engaging. During my time as the Graduate Student Librarian at Kent State University at Stark, I supported the library's mission to provide high-quality information services and resources to students, faculty, and staff. I assisted with circulation, reference, collection development, outreach activities, and maintained the library's website and digital resources. As an undergraduate, I studied applied communication and advertising. I gained a wealth of experience in consumer research, strategic planning, and mass communication methods. During my senior year study abroad, I had the unparalleled opportunity to complete a five-month internship at the South Centre, an intergovernmental organization based in Geneva, Switzerland. I helped create and disseminate multimedia content on global development issues using their content management systems and social media.
