Senior Project Manager
CurrentAusten Hawk has nine years of professional experience, spanning emergency response work in the field, local homeland security and emergency preparedness planning, and analysis of local, state, and federal exercises and real world events. For three consecutive projects—two within the District Columbia, she has provided onsite project team leadership and project support. Recently, Ms. Hawk led the development of multiple exercises focused on the response to a pandemic influenza from the perspective of health sector critical infrastructure owners and operators and their engagement with federal, state, and local government partners. She designed, coordinated, facilitated, and evaluated each of these exercises. Over the past months Ms. Hawk was able to leverage this experience and has had the opportunity to actively support the DC Department of Health with the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ms. Hawk has developed comprehensive qualitative and quantitative analytic frameworks, methodologies, and research techniques for addressing problems that are well defined or ambiguous in nature. She has taken the lead on various federal, state, local, and private industry stakeholder engagement and communication efforts to foster positive working relationships. She has contributed to and led research publications and analytical products for multiple projects with the intent of recommending courses of action and high-level decision-making at all levels of government and private sector.
