I assisted with editorial and administrative duties for various large-scale STEM textbooks. I worked on a wide variety of complex tasks, such as reviewing content, managing textbook correlations, creating and tracking new art production requests, assembling assessment forms, reviewing chapters (to both add corrections and make sure previous corrections have been processed), and updating various trackers used company-wide. I also processed all new recruits that needed to be added to the company's database.

As a book coach with Author Accelerator, I work remotely with writers to transform their book ideas and rough drafts into solid first drafts or polished final manuscripts. (Or both!) Whether the goal is an agent and a contract, or fulfillment of a personal passion, I provide authors with the guidance and constructive critiques necessary to create a mature manuscript. On a weekly basis I coach my writers through original coursework using the Story Genius method created by Lisa Cron, or through weekly 10- or 20-page submissions of their own writing. I'm also incredibly comfortable with full manuscript reviews, giving writers specific feedback for the next step of their writing process. In general, I provide both substantive editing and copyediting, always making sure I'm personalizing my approach and style to the author's work, needs, and abilities. I'm also incredibly flexible, and work with a wide variety of genres and writing skill-levels. My weekly feedback has been praised for its encouragement, insightfulness, and usefulness. I've been privileged to work with and create lasting relationships with wonderful writers who are determined to follow their passion!

At Instacart I provided tailored customer service via grocery shopping at Whole Foods. I worked efficiently and accurately, always beating company-set speed goals and adapting to new practices and procedures. While at Wiley on a term-of-project basis, I compiled annual reports from various sources of data for all journals published in 2015. My work was so appreciated that I was asked to stay on longer for assistance on a second data-based project.

As an editorial intern in HMH's adult trade division, I was privileged to work on numerous substantial tasks, projects, and books. In addition to going through slush piles for my editor and recommending manuscripts, I also provided rough overall edits on any projects she was currently working on. I handled mailing and sorting duties for different books in the esteemed Best American anthology series, and was in contact with many of the anthologies' writers concerning permissions and paperwork. I also wrote copy for certain Best American books coming out that year, and helped edit and construct copy for special anniversary editions in the series. While at HMH, I was also asked to step in for the departments' editorial assistant for about two months. In this position, I acted as assistant for two senior editors as well as my own manager. I took their phone calls and fielded general questions from their writers, as well as other employees at the company. I provided substantive editing for first drafts of their books, attended weekly editorial meetings, and processed hand-written copyedits. My largest project was working with a first-time author on her memoir, guiding her through the process of art permissions and the various stages of publishing.

In my first role at HMH, I temporarily took over for the usual contracts associate. I acted as the administrative hub for the whole contracts department, and was the point of contact for general inquiries within HMH as well as agents the company worked with. I distributed workflow, processed payment warrants, added final contracts to the company database, and updated older contracts (agreements, amendments, and reversions). I did general filing for contracts that had been pulled by other employees. I prepared, processed, and distributed sublicense deals, and researched contract information on Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's systems as needed.
