As a contractual Park Ranger my duties on the job varied daily. I acted as a liaison between the park, its visitors, and its volunteers, engaging them in multiple ways. This included the development and deliverance of educational programs for weekend visitors, which ranged from basic orienteering skills to guided identification hikes. It also included interacting with the visitors to help them navigate the park, suggest activities, or help with any issues. Other duties revolved around routine park operations, such as, opening the park, campground rounds, and manning ranger stations. When I was needed, I would also assist with trail maintenance to ensure that the trails located in the park were safe for the visitors using them. After peak season ended, I also worked on getting the park's GPS unit and software running, which had not been utilized to its full potential.

The majority of the field technician portion of the job was conducted as a part of the Interdisciplinary Climate Change Expedition in the Gannett Cirque, Wind River Range , Wyoming. As a part of the team I was tasked with collecting and analyzing water quality samples of melt water runoff from the surrounding glaciers. The samples included physical, chemical, and biological parameters and were studied to determine the health of the headwaters. At all sample sites, photos and GPS points were taken and used to create maps so the research could be duplicated. Before heading into the field I outlined the research parameters and set the goals that were to be achieved. After returning I studied the samples that were taken, a large portion of this was identifying the macroinvertebrate samples taken. When all the research had been complied I wrote research papers that were published as a part of my undergraduate research and delivered presentations to various groups.

I was on the ground floor of the newly incorporated non profit, Bighorn Restoration Group, and in October of 2015 was appointed to the Board of Directors. The mission of the non profit was to ensure sustainable bighorn sheep populations in the historical ranges of western Wyoming, and to advocate for the continued success of the species. While as Head of the Mapping and Mitigation Committee my goal was to gather baseline data on bighorn locations in the Wind River Range and to see how the correlated with surrounding domestic sheep flocks. This data was used to help develop mitigation tactics for the two species to prevent the spread of disease. I stepped down from my position when I moved out of the area, as I felt that I would not be able to give the organization the attention it deserved from a distance.

As a hydrologist intern I assisted the lead hydrologist with duties throughout the summer and into the fall. In the beginning, the main objective was the maintenance of stream gauges in Wyoming after the spring flooding season. This included replacement of equipment, calibration, and fixing any damages that occurred during high water stage. During the second part of the season we traveled throughout the state resetting and re-calibrating rain gauges and installing new equipment. A new stream gauge was installed in Fort Washakie, Wyoming and weather monitoring equipment was installed in Fort Washakie and on Mount Washburn in Yellowstone National Park. At the end of the season we collected baseline data on streams in Fremont County, Wyoming, using the Rosgen method.
