• Led a workstream on the Self-Service Business Intelligence (SSBI) Foundation project, focusing on establishing a working strategy utilizing Agile frameworks. Initiated the use of Scrum on SSBI projects in order to iterate through feedback more quickly, engage the business more in the process, and create more cohesive teams. As a member of the SSBI teams, I worked with several business functional areas to surface data in our data virtualization tool (Tibco Data Virtualization) and create dashboards using Tibco Spotfire. In the process of surfacing data, ensured data quality and standardization through data governance and use of a data dictionary.• Piloted the Data-Driven Decision Making program by working with company leaders directly to influence how analytics is used throughout the organization. By sitting in the business leaders’ day to day meetings, we elicited several opportunities to better use data, and focused on one such project to use trade spend more efficiently. As a result of this program, our department received incremental funding that has resulted in doubling the size of our team.• As one of the Spotfire Administrators, I helped expand the capabilities of the tool by spearheading new capabilities, as well as leading and assisting with various upgrades and documentation. Another area that the Admins focused on was improving analytical maturity throughout the organization, through training and “Office Hours”, where we helped business users with a variety of problems on a scheduled first come first served basis.• While backfilling members of the team, managed the budget for the team and operated as a scrum master for a team.

The Technology Development Program is a year-long leadership development program that exposes associates to different areas of technology at PNC, trains associates in a number of different skills, and allows associates to find the ideal fit for their permanent placement. Technology Platform Specialist - Data/Voice Support TeamWhile working with data and voice teams, I helped support the decommissioning process for several projects by wiping configurations, inventorying devices, and helping to improve the process of decommissioning. Additionally, while in this role, I helped to investigate relevant security vulnerabilities and determine PNC's exposure to these vulnerabilities.Oracle Database AdministratorDuring this rotation, I shadowed an Oracle DBA in his day-to-day tasks. I learned how to perform basic database troubleshooting and maintenance, such as unlocking accounts, increasing disk space, and resolving error reports. Software Engineering - C&IBIn this rotation, I was exposed to the requirements gathering and documentation process that leads up to software development. I learned how to interpret wire frames and convert them into functional and non-functional requirements. Additionally, I worked with QA analysts to test an application.Business Analyst - Retail BankingAs a business analyst, I focused on creating functional and non-functional requirements, use cases, and solutions to problems as they occurred in the project. The project I worked on was a regulatory project, so the process had an expedited deadline. I reached out to business partners and technology partners to manage scope and facilitate requirements documentation. Also while in this role, I ran reports in Clarity and analyzed data to determine areas to improve budget management. I also worked with my team to develop reports to show progress in meeting budget goals.

After a successful internship during the summer of 2013, I returned to Smucker in a Business Intelligence & Analytics intern role. In this role, I was responsible for creating dashboard views for high-level executives within the organization using Microstrategy. Additionally, I performed weekly data uploads and validation to ensure data quality. During this time, I provided recommendations on data visualization, report building, and process management.During my internship, I created an Excel macro to improve the weekly testing process's speed by over an hour. This macro also added in additional attributes to create alternate views of the data.In addition to creating reports, I also maintained existing reports by updating Spotfire reports with data from multiple sources. Finally, I took Coursera courses on data visualization and usability, as well as leadership and emotional intelligence, presented my findings to my team, and provided recommendations on how to incorporate the learnings into our team's culture.

In my role as a Resident Assistant, I served as a liaison between Ohio University's Residence Life Department and Ohio University students, demonstrating and facilitating the department's values. Resident Assistants provide information, hold necessary meetings, and serve as a leader for 30 students in a residence hall on campus. In addition to this, Resident Assistants also plan and execute programs to reinforce Residential Housing Values in the community building process.During my time as a Resident Assistant, I demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in being on-call 24/7, as well as providing conflict management and resolution in spontaneous situations.

During my time on the Business Process Development (BPD), I focused on providing "flow to the work" support to teams in the IS department. I ran reporting processes for inventory management and demand planning. Additionally, I created Excel macros using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to expedite the weekly process. These macros also aided in creating new views for the reports.Also during my internship, I assisted in managing a Smart Pallet Tag project to improve supply chain integrity and monitoring. I coordinated testing with warehouse site managers, conducted high level testing with Oracle, and monitored testing progress in order to stay on project schedule.

As a Capacity Management intern, I worked with the Capacity and Performance Management team to provide reports on hardware that supported key business functions. Under the supervision of the team, I learned how to create job reports using a variety of tools including SQL Server, Reporting Services and Tableau. In addition to supporting daily reporting activities, was also assigned three personal projects during my internship. The first project involved creating a visualization to monitor a daily task. This eliminated the need to run multiple queries each day, giving an analyst back 15 minutes each morning.For the second project, I implemented a Linux crontob job to run a data transfer for EDI. Prior to the automation of this task, it would take an hour each week for an analyst to run.The final project was creating an intranet site to house and display reports that my team created. This required learning CSS, HTML, and Javascript skills, and ultimately transformed a by-request service into a self-service process.

The Voinovich Scholar program is a selective research scholar program that engages high-achieving students in projects that affect the local community. While I was in this role, I researched initiatives undertaken by universities in economic and community development. Specifically, I explored the effects of mid-sized universities on rural communities. As a Voinovich Scholar, I assisted in establishing benchmarks for various projects undertaken by Ohio University, leveraging independent research skills and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Throughout 3 years, served in a number of capacities for the INTERalliance of Greater Cincinnati, a 501(c)(3) non-profit collaboration of businesses and educators formed in 2005 to give young IT talent a compelling reason to stay in Cincinnati. Initially, I served as Operations Assistant at the University of Cincinnati's IT Careers Camp. In that role, I provided vital operations such as scheduling meetings, acting as a liaison between the INTERalliance, UC, parents and students, as well as business partners. I also coordinated logistics for daily activities of the camp.After a successful first year, I was promoted to Assistant Director of Northern Kentucky University. In this role, I continued in many of the same responsibilities as Operations Assistant, but also managed one intern and had more interactions with business partners. Additionally, I oversaw the purchasing of transportation and food. Following this camp, was moved to Miami University to oversee their IT Careers Camp in an Assistant Director role.During my 3 years at The INTERalliance, I interacted with professionals at Miami University, University of Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky University, P&G, General Electric, TIER1, Cintas, Kroger, Microsoft, Key Bank, and the Cincinnati Museum Center, among others.

During the winter intersession, worked as a social media intern for zatka.com. Participated in a promotion blitz of their new collaborative search engine, Searchteam.com using social media tools. In addition, beta-tested the website and collaboration tools.

Worked in UPS Distribution Center unloading semi-trucks, scanning packages, and sorting packages during third shift.
