SIMElab Africa (Social Media Lab Africa) is a Social Media Consumption and Analytics Research Lab housed at USIU-Africa’s Freida Brown Innovation Center. SIMElab Africa offers research and development facilities to USIU-Africa faculty and students. Other eligible members include civil societies, corporate businesses, and policymakers from Kenya and beyond. SIMELab is jointly funded by U.S. Embassy in Nairobi and USIU-Africa.SIMElab aims:To provide an annual status report on social media consumption in Kenya To conduct quarterly training on social media analytics to academics and members of the private sector in KenyaTo develop a monthly data repository on social media consumption in KenyaTo disseminate quality and reputable research through journal and conference publicationsHere are some of my achievements at SIMElab:Together with my colleagues, we published the SIMElab Social Media Consumption Report in Kenya for 2020. I played a critical role in helping SIMElab collect and analyze data on social media usage.We also conducted quarterly training to teach academics and private sector participants how to collect and analyze data from social media analytics in Kenya.Another essential role I played was to help formulate research questions for conference papers published by the SIMElab team.
