I am currently working at ReCor Medical in R&D, where I perform a multitude of tasks including: design/fabrication of thermal bench-testing systems and manufacturing fixtures, analysis of ultrasound and RF ablation heating profiles using tissue-mimicking phantoms with embedded thermocouples, investigations into dosing parameters in vivo (animal/cadaver studies) and analysis of histopathology, design/fabrication of ultrasonic renal denervation balloon catheters, testing/analysis of ultrasound transducer characteristics (uniformity and acoustic output measured with hydrophone/power meter), creation of assembly drawings for prototyping/manufacturing and documentation, and performing DVT testing and first article inspections of various components. I've built custom finite-difference algorithms that can simulate ultrasound heating of tissues that also include convection at the boundaries due to balloon cooling and/or blood flow. I regularly use SolidWorks, MATLAB, Excel and Word, and occasionally LabVIEW and custom ReCor software.

As a graduate student, I worked on modeling mechanics and heat transfer of breast tissue during hyperthermia treatment (breast cancer ablation). More specifically, I worked with perfused tissue-phantoms with embedded thermocouples to measure heat transfer during focused ultrasound ablation. I created custom simulation software (MATLAB) to predict the heat transfer occurring in perfused tissue during HIFU ablation and compared the results to my experimental data. I'm very happy to say that my thesis has been published and is available through the SJSU library or online services!

Investigated accidents and injuries, such as slips and falls, vehicle crashes and other types of collisions, in order to determine the nature and severity of the injuries. Employed bio-/injury mechanics theories to calculate the forces involved and the potential causes of injury. Inspecting and understanding medical files was also a major part of the work. The calculated forces were compared to the strength of bones, tendons, muscles, etc. in tension, torsion or bending. Physical models were designed/built with accelerometers and other sensors to test various scenarios and determine the forces involved. MATLAB was commonly used for modeling and sensor data acquisition.
