In my role at Michigan Virtual as an IT Security Analyst, I play a key part in keeping our organization secure by overseeing security practices and guiding our IT Support Specialists. I’m responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining the security of our assets—everything from end-user devices and servers to network and IoT devices. A big part of my job is staying proactive about potential threats, which means reviewing logs, tracking alerts from firewalls and intrusion detection systems, and performing regular vulnerability assessments.I also help evaluate and adopt new technologies, always with security in mind. I work closely with senior leaders and our Managed Service Provider (MSP) to implement strategies that strengthen our security culture and align with our long-term goals, like rolling out CIS controls IG1. Additionally, I support security awareness training, keep up with the latest security trends, and conduct research to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving field.
