Growing up I always liked to build connections and rapport with others. I have always felt that being able to talk to others is an important aspect of a good community member. I accredit my ability make these connections, and rapport to my ability to show empathy. I feel without empathy you will never be able to have a good connection to your community. I have always been driven to work in a role where I can use these skills to engage with my community, and make my own impact. I also have had a passion for law from a young age. I have grown my passion for law by attending post secondary for Police Foundations. Upon completion of my first program I knew I wanted to learn more; I then attended a graduate program of Advanced Police Studies. This program allowed me to build on my communication, report writing, analytical thinking, and investigative skills, by giving me the opportunity of cooperative education with a small Ontario police force. My most current position has advanced my communication skills in deescalation as I have had to refuse service to customers who under legislation are unable to purchase alcohol. It has also afforded me the opportunity to get to know the community by simply taking time to talk to people throughout the day. Finally in my position of a team leader it has allowed me to develop both my leadership, and time management skills.
