I began working at The WaterDog in September 2016. At the time, The restaurant had only been open for two weeks and was in desperate need for help. I was hired as a fry cook to come in and be an extra body a few nights a week. I quickly began taking on more and more responsibilities on the line, and after a year and six months on the job I was made one to the Lead Line Cooks. I gained proficiency in all areas of our kitchen while also being a full-time student. I was one of the more reliable workers, having only called out twice in 2 years (both due to injury). My time at The Waterdog has been a tremendous learning/maturation process.

Hooters of Fredericksburg began as a job to get me through the first summer home from college, but unexpectedly it has become a catalyst for professional growth. I began as a line cook and soon began taking on responsibilities expected of much more experienced employees. I am not a corporate certified trainer and am working towards becoming a kitchen captain/hourly manager. My time at Hooters has offered numerous opportunities for both personal and professional growth. Working in an established, corporate restaurant offers an experience unlike what you get form locally owned businesses, and Hooters is no different. Though Hooters is not known for the most exquisite food, any good employee can find benefits in the most chaotic of jobs.

I initially began working for the owner of this restaurant when the business was still in its construction phase. I helped to historically restore the building in Downtown Fredericksburg. After months of working to meet various deadlines, we were able to open the doors of the restaurant. This was my first job in a kitchen and I started in the dish pit. My desire to learn and better myself was clear to the owner and he began to train me to cook. The owner/chef taught me the the essentials of working in a kitchen and what it means to be efficient in a kitchen.
