Sheet Metal Mechanic
Current▪ Uses a variety of common tools such as: wrenches, ratchets, sockets, hammers,rulers, screwdrivers; power tools like drills, sanders, grinders, and rivet guns andspecialty precision tools such as: torque wrenches, digital and analog calipers,scales.▪ Utilizes a variety of sheet metal tools such as: rivet guns, bucking bars, drills,speed handles, tin snips, grinders, sanders, hammers, mallets, CLECOS,calipers, punches, scribes, scales as well as various shop equipment such asshears, rollers, drill presses, belt sanders and band saws.▪ Highly skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and the following specialtytools: Force Mate tooling - Cold Working tools - Tapered Reamers - Taper Lokremoval and installation - Proper use of rivets (AD, E, DD, cherry max rivets,steel Monel rivets, and suitable substitutes) - Grip Length - Diameter based onmaterial thickness - Measuring devices (calipers and micrometers) - Portapowers - Davis nut pullers - Dimplers - Stretcher and Shrinker - Tap and Dies -▪ Presses and Breaks to aid in forming metal.▪ Performs structural tasks such as removing, replacing, and realigning ribs,longerons, bulkheads, stringers, and fittings in completed skinned assembles andrack modifications.▪ Removes, fabricates, repairs, modifies, and installs parts and assemblies, suchas frames, stringers, longerons, bulkheads, beams, ribs, spars, skins, and doublecontour skins using hand or power tools and variety of metal working equipment.▪ Experienced at identifying and cold working various aircraft metals.▪ Locates and marks dimensions, lays out patterns, and templates and fabricatesparts, repair skin and stiffeners, stringers, frames, brackets, fairings usingprecision tools, shrinkers, benders, rollers, drills, shot rivets, saws, brakes,shears and grinders. Cut, trimmed, filed, bent and smoothed parts and verifiessizes and fitting tolerances in order to ensure proper fit and clearance of parts.
