I'm currently fulfilling my Biological Sciences B.S. degree at URI as a transfer student from QVCC. I'm looking to find part- or full-time positions in the fields of science and medicine to take alongside my schooling, and can allow me to refine my skills and knowledge. This is so I can one day achieve my dream of becoming a medical professional; I'm particularly passionate about progressive political philosophy, preventative-treatment physiology, holistic approaches to wellness/fitness, and environmental climatology/ecology. I also thoroughly enjoy researching the care requirements for a wide variety of plants and animals - which I see as a way of incrementally building upon my interest in caring for others. I've worked in the food service industry before as a Waiter and Bartender, I’ve additionally done a short stint when I was about 17 at my local Parks and Recreation Department as an Assistant Counselor where I worked in tandem with my peers to provide quality daycare and enrichment to young locals’ children as young as 4-6 years old in our group. These have been greatly formative experiences for me in my limited background, since care and interactions of every sort will undoubtedly be applicable in a medical career. They helped me to build confidence in my social skills, improve upon my time management, instilling in myself a strong sense of human empathy, and allowed me to pick up communication skills along the way. To bolster my knowledge of the sciences, I've begun the journey of taking higher-level science classes - some examples being Environmental Sciences, Vertebrate Biology, Bacterial Microbiology, as well as other biological and chemistry-related courses.Additionally, since beginning the transition from adolescence to adulthood in my interests, I have opened my eyes to the world of linguistics in learning a few languages, like when I attended four semesters of Italian throughout my high school career. It started as a way to be able to connect to my paternal grandfather via his immigrant parents' native tongue - from there, I was curious about so many other places around the globe, varying in their relation to Romance languages and taught myself introductory-level French and Spanish, have taken courses in American Sign Language (ASL), Arabic, and most recently, three semesters of Japanese. I love the idea of becoming a polyglot (one who speaks multiple languages) because being able to effectively convey to and understand as many groups of people as possible is beautiful, and a value that I hold to be important in being a great doctor.
