Solicits export control and national security questions and issues across the DOE complex to streamline compliance efforts and support collaborative problem-solvingacross a broad array of scientific and technical disciplines at laboratories around the nation.• Planned and executed two day in-person training workshop for nearly fifty DOE exportcompliance professionals on export-controlled nuclear modeling and simulation softwareunder the Department’s Nuclear Energy Advanced Modeling and Simulation program.

Our workforce specializes in a wide range of progressive science, technology, and engineering across many exciting fields, including space exploration, geophysics, renewable energy, supercomputing, medicine, and nanotechnology.• Supports LANL's mission and international activities by ensuring compliance with US export laws and regulations• Regularly and independently conducts reviews of scientific content and concepts, technical reports, presentations, software disclosures, patent inventions, physical commodities, technical data, technology, and data sets across a broad and complex range of disciplines/fields• Interfaces and works regularly with Principal Investigators (scientific staff) to assess and classify their research/technology; with Security and Counterintelligence to assess foreign visits and assignments; and the Feynman Center for Innovation (technology transfer) on intellectual property issues, patents, and software disclosures• Provides analysis of export control requirements for all LANL technology/software exports, foreign visits, international shipments and all other LANL export/import related activities• Submits export control determinations, export license applications, advisory opinion requests and commodity jurisdiction requests to the appropriate regulatory agency• Ensures that proposed transactions are screened for Denied Person and Entities, restricted end uses• Acts as a point-of-contact for export regulatory agency inquiries from the US Departments of State and Commerce, US Customs and Border Protection, and US Bureau of Industry and Security• Provides guidance and training to staff on export control; fields questions from and collaborates with staff on all export control related concerns

Primary deployment to the Business Management Directorate, which had a $300M budget with over 1,400 employees in nine divisions including five Information and Technology divisions and the Human Resources, Finance, Controller, and Acquisition Services divisions. I supported the directorate's five IT and cyber security divisions with internal messaging, strategic communications, and project management in a highly complex and dynamic computing environment. Managed approximately two Lab-wide campaigns/month related to IT product rollouts and diverse initiatives at different stages of the IT lifecycle. Delivered emergency communications during unplanned IT service outages.
