About Austin Reid
Storytelling is my passion, and through my work, I’ve come to see it as a bridge; one that connects the past, present, and future. As a historian, I’ve documented the rich histories of Jewish communities across New York and Ohio, helping individuals and families rediscover lost narratives. My research and writing have not only preserved these stories but have also reignited the memories of others, drawing new connections between generations. In my policy work, I’ve focused on how institutions of higher education strengthen communities and address societal challenges. I’ve secured government grants that protect nonprofits, community centers, and places of worship, reflecting my commitment to fostering safe, inclusive spaces. In my role as a student affairs professional, I helped guide hundreds of students in discovering and sharing their own stories, ensuring that their voices were not only heard but understood. My belief that listening is just as important as speaking has informed my work in every sector. Whether writing the 81-year history of Ithaca College’s Hillel, or creating a detailed account of Muller Chapel’s interfaith legacy, I approach every project with an emphasis on inclusivity, remembrance, and community-building. These histories have served not only as storytelling tools but as valuable assets for fundraising and organizational growth. With a Master of Public Administration from Cornell University, I’ve honed my skills in addressing the unique challenges faced by nonprofits and governmental organizations. I’m deeply committed to mission-driven work, where I can continue to grow professionally while making meaningful contributions. Whether through historical research or policy advocacy, I believe that storytelling has the power to transform communities, and I’m excited to continue using this tool to drive impact and connection.
Listed skills include Powerpoint, Leadership, Event Planning, Customer Service, and 15 others.
