One thing this summary won't be is boring. In trying to figure out what I was going to write to differentiate myself, I thought about what I would want to see from a prospective hire as the future leader I aspire to be. I’d want someone similar to myself that is honest, authentic, genuine and didn’t just talk about his or her experience. My belief is that experience and skills no longer matter nearly as much in the future of work.People who rave all about their experience and skills here on LinkedIn aren’t adaptable; adaptability and resilience are key for growing organizations. Where skills can be learned, I believe that mindset is far more important than skillset. I’d look for someone who is passionate about learning, who strives to spark ideas, and challenges the status quo. Someone who strives for excellence. Who motivates and brings energy to those around them like myself. Additionally, the person’s values. I will not work for, work with, or hire a person that doesn't have the right values that align with my own and those of the organization. I believe that organizations and HR teams live in a dream world trying to find the perfect candidate for their positions and sticking to a rigid criteria. As a leader, I would not look for someone who checked every box, because you’ll never find them, or they may not be the best fit.I would consider myself an expert on employee engagement and the future of work. If you want to know more about who I am, I highly encourage you to either watch the commencement speech I gave to my old high school's graduating class found below or read my MBA dissertation on Engaging Employees Within Customer Centric Start-Ups, Creating a Happy Workplace Culture & Analyzing the Impacts. Feel free to reach out and connect if you believe what I do, that the future of work is changing. That you should work doing something you're passionate about that defines your purpose on this earth. Fellow leaders like myself must change traditional work roles and co-create new jobs that challenge us, aspire to create meaning, and fulfill some sort of a greater purpose. Each working person deserves to see that they can make a difference and do something great. Organizations must create a culture of meaning, not one based on the traditional productive culture that solely seeks profits. We must add color to our future organizations and employee’s lives. We must discuss complex issues and challenge our workforce. Workers do not want a stagnant understanding of their field, nor a stationary comprehension of their place in the world.
