My position as the Treasurer/CFO is to administer and oversee the school system's financial affairs. Those duties include serving as the custodian of all financial assets and being responsible for the following functions: preparation of the annual budgets ($50M), preparation of monthly and annual financial statements for all funds maintained by the school system, investing of available funds for short or long term periods in interest-bearing accounts and determine the amounts of such investments at the best return available, be responsible for payrolls and related functions of 600 employees, accounts payable, purchasing, and to audit the statements of the individual schools to ensure continuity.•Control treasury functions - investments, etc. - as allowed by law and Board policy.•Oversee and direct the operation of school system finances for the school system within the realms of accounting, budget, and treasury.•Maintain budgetary controls to ensure that expenditures are made in accordance with the approved budget and applicable policies.•Monitor the allocation of fiscal resources to system programs, related communications, receipts, and financial analysis.•Prepare monthly financial statements of all funds maintained by the school system and presents copies of the reports to the Board, the superintendent, the State Board of Education, and other interested parties.•Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.•Prepare monthly financial reports of all special program revenues and expenditures.•Responsible for the capital assets inventory system.•Provide a uniform system of financial accounting for the individual schools.•Participate in administrative decision-making as a member of the superintendent's management team.
