As a Software Engineer at Salesforce, I support the Marketing Cloud's Email Application as a full-stack software engineer. I develop additional functionality as well as maintain support for existing features, for many of the world's largest retailers in the industry's most prominent enterprise email application.My role covers all layers of the application from MS SQL Server database stored procedures, C# Middle-Tier/REST API, and Backbone (MV*) based Front-End. Additionally, I serve a prominent role in developing Automation Testing for the marketing cloud by implementing REST API automation with my REST work, as well as being a key early adopter of Nightwatch.js for UI based Selenium automation testing. As one of few early adopters of Nightwatch.js in Salesforce, I drive the development of organization-wide testing utilities as well as helping to define the company's standards for developing a robust, maintainable, and expandable test suite.In my role, I also serve as a mentor for other engineers, including training other individuals on my team in Front-End engineering, training other engineers on Nightwatch.js testing standards, or being consistently involved in the Futureforce program (recruiting, interviewing, and evaluating candidates)

In my work at Salesforce, I served as an Associate Software Engineer supporting the applications used in the creation and sending of billions of marketing emails for many major companies across the globe. In my role, I functioned as a front-end software engineer.I utilized technologies such as Javascript, HTML5, CSS, Bower, Grunt, Backbone, Node, Bootstrap, C#, SQL, and Ruby in my everyday work in order to create high-quality web components with a focus on quality through QUnit based unit tests and Ruby based automated regression tests.

During my time at Microsoft, I worked as a Program Manager Intern for Office Engineering, an internal team responsible for maintaining tools and processes for the development and release of all Microsoft Office products. In this time frame, I undertook two projects: Evaluating a variety of restructurings of internal file transfer systems between Redmond and all Distributed Development Centers (DDCs) and establishing future direction for the discovery and evangelization of Open Source Software (OSS) within Microsoft Office.In my first project, I evaluated the current file transfer setup of binary files between Redmond and all remote offices, including server structures, transfer setups, de-duping algorithm choices, and more in order to understand bottlenecks and areas of improvement. Then, using hypothesis driven project standards I evaluated various software options to increase transfer speed and reduce server load in Redmond. I ultimately made recommendations and created basic groundwork for the implementation of an improved transfer system between offices.In my second project, I gathered feedback from various Microsoft engineers about their patterns in using, implementing, testing, and approving external OSS components for use in the development process. I used this feedback to create initial designs for new components, which could be integrated with current Microsoft process relating to OSS in order to improve the quality of workflow for Microsoft engineers when utilizing OSS components as well as potentially improve ties among engineers and the open source community. In the final weeks of my internship I developed a prototype of some of these features to gather data for future implementation.

In my work at Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Formerly known as ExactTarget), I implemented a handful of major user stories as well as approximately 50 bug fixes in a web application based in technologies such as Node.js, Backbone.js, and more.My work mostly focused around developing various web UI components that could be reused with a simple Bower dependency and no rewritten code across the entire ExactTarget product line. My components also maintained a high focus on quality with 95%+ unit test coverage using QUnit, as well as proper internationalization support, through a combination of an in house DB system and Underscore.js templating.My work is currently in the process of being deployed in a new ExactTarget product to major clients like Microsoft, Sony, Gap, and many more. It is also planned to be used in many future ExactTarget products releasing to our entire customer base.Examples of my work at ExactTarget include developing a Bootstrap based modal, fully customizable by a single JSON object, to allow customers to see videos, feature lists, and more for any new ExactTarget product and allow them to opt into the new product.I also developed a modal to allow users to create and select marketing campaigns so as to associate them with items such as emails. Similarly, I developed a few other smaller components to be used in the ExactTarget product line.

During my time at ITT Educational Services, Inc. (ITTESI), I helped lead the implementation of a batch job scheduling software package (JAMS Scheduler) across ITTESI's servers. My tasks including exploring the usages, implementation issues, setup process, and more for transferring job scheduling to the new software platform.I also dabbled shortly in Excel VBA to develop some simple spreadsheet macros for the company.
