Austin Rouse joined EDPNC in 2015 working as a research analyst, transitioning to working on the Business Recruitment team as a manager in 2018, then served as a senior member of the team focusing on automotive projects before his current role of being the Director of the Business Recruitment team. In his current role, Austin serves as the leader of the eight-person business recruitment team that work directly with attracting businesses to North Carolina and managing statewide business recruitment projects. Throughout his time at EDPNC, Austin has worked directly with more than 50 economic development projects that have led to more than 16,000 announced jobs and more than $7 billion in capital investment, including working with companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Pratt & Whitney, Eli Lilly, and Nucor. Prior to joining EDPNC, Austin worked in research roles within economic development in Charlotte, Raleigh, and eastern North Carolina. Austin is a native of Kinston and is a double Tar Heel having earned his bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and Political Science and Master of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
