Everything from passive and active RF (up to K-band, SMT/chip and wire), analog, and digital electronics, production-grade interactive software, etc.

Assisted with the research and design of high‑power, broadband receiver protection for a program and investigated the use of mitered bends for future RF PCB design. Created simulations in Microwave Office and HFSS, tested active and passive limiters, and communicated findings to the engineering team.

Developed software libraries and application tools to assist with field testing, serving customer needs, and carrying out research. Assisted with design options for XetaWave’s next-generation transceiver, diagnosed hardware problems in new products before release, integrated XetaWave radios with third-party products, and completed software application tools for RF ambient noise analysis and design verification testing. Acquired RF and wireless experience by assisting customers over the phone with their radio networks, carrying out field testing, utilizing instrumentation (VNA, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, pulse generator, etc.), writing corollary field reports, writing application notes, and testing XetaWaveproducts for reliability.

Contributed to several programs at Ball Aerospace that involved RF circuit design, including two IRAD integrated receivers. Researched wideband components, performed cascade analyses, and carried out architecture trade-studies. Measured S-parameters from existing prototype boards and factored them into simulated models as a way to approximate end-RF behavior.Debugged a pseudo-random frequency hopping effect on an RF networkboard prototype. The board provides RF preconditioning (i.e. use of limiters, filters, amplifiers,etc.) prior to downconversion.

Wrote scripts and programs to automate tasks in the engineering department. The programs controlled instrumentation, captured diagnostic packets from company products, recorded RF measurements, and plotted the data. Debugged non-functioning radios and soldered 0603 and 0402 SMT components for testing.Worked with radio propagation studies, receiving customer’s topographical map data and analyzing whether or not RF communications was feasible in their area. Provided suggestions for radio models, antennas, or other aspects that would improve RF communications.
