This independent research study synthesizes interviews with queer alums and findings based on natural language processing of health curricula to present a framework of queer-inclusion in New Jersey public high schools and recommendations for improvement.

The Northwestern Prison Education Program (NPEP) is the only degree-granting program in Illinois that provides a full liberal arts education to incarcerated people. The program is dedicated to providing education to those who have faced the most barriers and reducing recidivism through knowledge and opportunity. As a member of the operations committee, I organized workshops for incarcerated students, created academic resources for youth in juvenile detention centers, and coordinated with administrators at detention centers to ensure tutoring sessions run smoothly.

As the secretary of the undergraduate arm of NPEP, I communicated with general members, took extensive notes at every meeting, and ensured meetings ran smoothly.

As treasurer, I kept detailed records on all financial transactions, gathered signatures and documents, and consulted committee heads on how to most efficiently spend club money to ensure the organization could run smoothly.

Ridge Against Racism is a coalition of students and alumni of Ridge High School working with our township on long-term plans to equip students with the tools to counter racism, misogyny, heteronormativity, and ethnocentrism. I researched the current curricula of Bernards Township schools, worked with other volunteers to develop a plan for curricular reform, and presented this plan to staff. I maintained the website which documents our mission and our research, and I managed our Instagram account (@ridgeagainstracism) which features anonymous testimonials from students and alumni.
