I have been advising Australian and New Zealand technology companies, start-ups, SMEs and listed companies to navigate the patent process and patent risk for more than 20 years, helping them to compete throughout the world. I have also worked with some of the worlds most successful technology companies creating high-quality Australian, New Zealand and SE Asian patent portfolios. I have worked with companies with R&D teams from 5 to 150 people to foster cultures that embrace IP capture and creation and build commercially relevant, valuable patent and design portfolios. Through this work I have developed and executed patent strategies that have produced a 10X increase in granted patent holdings of clients going through phases of rapid technical development, and assisted companies to implement patent programs from scratch. I am experienced at client counselling on patent strategy and risk management, advising on patent infringement, potential design-arounds, and competitor analysis. I have also assisted clients through due diligence processes as both vendor and investor. I have and handled patent oppositions, and oral hearings on patentability in Australian and Europe, and have won cases for clients in both jurisdictions.
