I retired from full-time teaching, and currently substitute 2-3 days a week for grades 4K through high school for the Waukesha School District.

In June-Oct. of 2013 I co-authored a blog with my husband as we paddled from the headwater of the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico in the Pygmy kayak that we built, stopping along the way to participate in service opportunities. My book-length memoir of our trip, Paddle for a Purpose, was published in 2018 by eLectio Publishing and in 2019 received the First Place PenCraft Award for Literary Excellence in the memoir category. All of the author profit from this book is donated to the charities we served on the trip.In 2021, I was pleased (and surprised) to win the Local Gems Press National Writing Month Poetry Chapbook Competition and will have a poetry chapbook published soon. I currently play flute with Tim Milo in a guitar and flute duo named Myrddin. We play a variety of classical, romantic, and contemporary music for special occasions.

I served on the original staff of the Waukesha STEM Academy charter school at the Randall Campus (K-5). I was trained in Children's Engineering, TRIBES, FOSS Science, and Project-Based Learning. I worked with a team to develop Kindergarten-level engineering design briefs, and to implement principles of STEM education with 5 and 6-year olds.

I worked with the Primary Team at Bethesda for 29 years teaching in grades K, 1, and 2. Bethesda is an open-concept school designed for team teaching. I also took two trips to visit our partner school in Wundanyi, Kenya. We assisted with starting a library, taught classes, and helped to build a computer room at Mbauro Primary School.

I began my teaching career at Koenig Elementary School, teaching AM and PM Kindergarten.
