About Autumn Croxell
I Graduated with my BA-Geography from the University of North Texas in 2009. During this degree I had spent one year abroad studying Chinese in Shanghai, China. I also received minors in Social Sciences, International Studies, and Chinese. Afterwards, I returned to China to continue my Chinese studies and I later graduated with my MSc in Environmental Science in 2013 from the UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development. I then received a Fellowship and MSc in Environment and Resource Management at VU University in Amsterdam. Finally, I completed my Master of Public Affairs (MPA) at the University of Texas at Dallas. In Fall of 2012, I secured an internship at UNEP's Division of Regional Cooperation in Nairobi, Kenya. While I was in Kenya, I conducted research on the urban agriculture practices of Kisumu for my Master's Thesis on the use of home gardening for global food security. This research fully expressed the importance of interdisciplinary research as my research covered not only agricultural and ecological factors, but also sociological aspects. The publication is listed below. Other than my experiences working for the UN in Nairobi, I have also worked extensively in China as an English teacher at various high schools and as a private tutor to Engineers at the Baolong Company. I also worked for the Walt Disney Company in various areas for several years. I started in the retail end, but worked up into their professional internship program at Disney's Animal Kingdom as an environmental educator. I also led tours of their hydroponic greenhouse and aquaculture system at Disney's EPCOT resort. I have since moved to Paris where I live with my husband, who is a French national. My goal for the future is to find a profession that will fully utilize my skills and knowledge in a field that will allow me to aid society. I have been traveling for the past several years and I am open to moving across country or abroad to find the ideal position.

I gathered data on city ordinances and commercial recycling practices of other local municipalities to identify opportunities for improvements to local practices. I then compiled this data into Excel spreadsheets for statistical analysis and optimization of visual representations. This information was then used to create charts and presentation materials for the division Supervisor to present to the City Council for consideration in determining if a new call for bids was warranted in the next fiscal year.
