I lead my life with curiosity - as an adventurer, a systems and operations thinker, and as a social science student. I lean into being comfortably uncomfortable because this is where the magic happens and transformative lessons for life are discovered. Whether that is applied to travel, workflows, or how communities heal through storytelling, I am forever curious and a seeker of wisdom.Curiosity was applied when I first encountered Adobe products, such as InDesign, and came to rely on that tool for years. Curiosity was applied when I led my current team in changing software and creating systems and workflows to navigate a deadline driven tax season. Curiosity leads me as I research how community, migration, and storytelling are connected through my program research coursework.Curiosity led me to apply for multiple study abroad programs, and be accepted to all - from Italy to Morocco.Follow along as I share tidbits gleaned along my journey and new ones waiting to be discovered.

Study Abroad: Global Refugee CrisisUniversity Of Washington Jan 2024 - Mar 2024Rome, ItalyRefugees and internally displaced peoples are at a record 117.3 million people worldwide. The causes are complex, with high proportions due to persecution, war, climate change, and genocide. As part of a cohort of 20 university students, I participated in a quarter study abroad program based in Rome, Italy. There we dug deep into research of the why, how, who, and where refugees and asylum seekers move from and to. We faced the harsh reality of traumas (physical and mental), diseases and medical issues, dangerous travel routes, and attempts to seek safety in a new country. During this time, we volunteered in organizations around the city that support refugees and their families. This added layer of experience as a non-Italian speaker and attempts to communicate with authorities and refugees brought a richer awareness and sensitivity to the complexities faced by refugees once they are in a new country. -
