While a blank page can strike fear in some people, I welcomed the challenge of creating a cohesive communication plan for the Outrigger Canoe Club. With guidance from our Member Relation Committee, I developed a robust array of platforms – email campaigns, digital displays, social media, printed mailers, a website, Club App, and a bi-monthly magazine to better meet our members’ high expectations for communications. I am particularly proud of my collaboration with Ama magazine's publisher, editor, and designer. We work to reinforce the Outrigger lifestyle brand while sharing the Club’s history and members’ stories in an elevated format and designed for a long shelf-life. Change is hard for a 114-year-old institution, and I have played a lead role in meeting the objectives of the Board of Directors and the Member Relations Committee and balancing the needs of our members during challenging transitions. In addition to executing the communication plan, I work closely with the General Manager to support the Board of Directors’ monthly, special, and annual meetings and coordinate needed printed and electronic election materials. During Covid, it was important to keep our membership connected and I hosted the Zoom webinars for our annual meetings, town halls, and Stew & Rice guest speaker series for our “Senior ‘Riggers.”

As part of the Executive team, I was responsible for all Administrative and HR tasks for the new business, including hiring, benefits, setting up AR/AP system and IT. I executed all GET, Annual Liquor Compliance and Federal TTB filings and payments, worked closely with the Brewmaster on development and execution of rebranding effort, including Press Releases and re-establishing Social Media accounts. I also sourced all merchandise for retail sales and developed pricing and support materials for Distributor sales. During the opening of two successful retail operations – Aloha Beer Co. Tap Room and The HI Brau Room, I was involved in all support aspects - from ordering custom drapes to creating and procuring art; setting up the POS system and overseeing website design. I also booked and coordinated private events at the brewery.

My duties at The Pacific Club included: Designing, writing and producing press-ready monthly member newsletter magazine ‘Express’, writing and distributing twice-weekly member emails, developing and executing Social Media Policy and managing website. I also worked with the F&B Director, Sommelier and Executive Chef on menus and marketing materials to support special events at the Club and handled inquiries from members regarding a variety of needs – from reservations to logging on to website.

I purchased an existing business June 2010. Managed all operations of a busy breakfast and lunch bakery and restaurant, including the 3:00 AM baking shift. Developed new recipes and products based on seasonal and local ingredients. Supervised a staff of 5-15, depending on seasonality – including hiring, training, and payroll. Created new brand identity for business including website, social media, and PR. Managed all aspects of the finances for the business – AP/AR, etc.

Worked with board to establish mission statement and business plan for non profit trade association. Coordinated annual membership renewals, board elections, quarterly and monthly meetings. Created new, award winning, event weekend - securing a Travel Oregon grant to fund initial creation. Developed marketing materials. Created social media accounts and online promotions. Designed and updated website using WordPress. Represented organization at local and regional events. Met some incredible people making delicious wine in the Columbia Gorge.

Managed local and regional events for large regional craft brewery. Concurrently managed point of sale ordering, inventory & shipping of support materials. Responsible for annual budgets totalling $200,000. Key support in highly successful launch of Session Lager brand. Supervised customer service rep and oversaw online sales. Represented brewery at regional and national trade shows and events.Prior to being promoted to the Event & Point of Sale position, I was in the position of Brewery Representative for 18 months. Responsibilities included working with distributors, calling on on and off premise accounts,establishing sales targets and analyzing sales numbers.

As a Brewery Representative for BridgePort Brewing (1996-1997), I was part of the team responsible for the rebranding and repositioning of the BridgePort beers under the new ownership of The Gambrinus Company. I worked the on and off premise market, establishing target accounts and executing distributor incentive programs. I also represented the brewery at regional and national events and trade shows. As the Customer Relations Manager for Shiner Bock (1995-1996), I reported directly to the owner of the company. In this new position, I was responsible for creating and reinforcing strong brewery loyalty with key retail accounts. I also represented the brand in expansion markets, supporting the Regional Sales Manager. As Retail Specialist (1992-1995), My responsibilities included securing distribution for Shiner Bock, Corona and BridgePort brands. I also analyzed weekly and monthly sales data, established target account list, developed and executed distributor incentive programs and represented brands at regional and national trade events.
