Arturo Vargas Bustamante is a Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and Faculty Director of Research at the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute. He specializes in health care disparities research, secondary data analysis, health care cost analysis and program design, implementation, and evaluation. Arturo’s research delves into unexplored and underexplored aspects of access to and use of health care, with a primary focus on Latinos/Hispanics and immigrants in the United States. He also conducts research in border and international health care, with a particular interest in U.S.-Mexico cross-border health care use, commonly referred to as medical tourism. Arturo’s mission is to advance health equity and policy solutions through rigorous research and evidence-based insights.
