With 30 years of simultaneous experience in emergency services and advertising & marketing, I have managed to maintain a successful career in each. While obtaining my first degree in Commercial Art & Advertising Design, I also completed my Firefighter Level III certification. I soon developed an interest in medicine which has never ceased. I progressed from EMT to Intermediate, Paramedic, RN & now Flight Nurse. While I am fulfilled with my job in healthcare, it is always rewarding to bring a design idea to life on paper, by computer, on apparel or many other mediums. Medicine is rewarding, but design is not nearly as pressure-filled as saving lives! My slogan has always been, "If you screw up a t'shirt, nobody dies".My passion over the past several years, however, is peer support. I volunteer with multiple agencies to advocate for my colleague's mental health & well being. My latest accomplishment was to bring an internal peer support team to my division at Atrium Health. Mobile Medicine encompasses MedCenter Air, Mobile Integrated Health & Med1 Mobile deployable field hospital. My vision was to have a peer team for all aspects of each of these departments within our division. As result, COMMIT (Care of Mobile Medicine Internal Teammates) came to life.
