What do you think of when you see the word “hard-working”?It has been said over and over again that actions speak louder than words, but unfortunately the case is that most times all we have to show for ourselves is words. As much as I would love to shout my journey from the rooftops, I can’t show you every situation I’ve conquered or every single piece of work I’ve been a part of creating. I hope that my story speaks louder than the words used to tell it, and that whoever reads this gets an idea of what hard work means to me. I am a young college student whose dream is to produce video content that causes an emotional impact on people’s lives. I want to create pieces of art that make people cry, laugh, ponder, and experience inspiration. If I have caused someone to stir emotionally after viewing my work, I have succeeded in achieving this personal goal. I’ve always enjoyed the creative outlet of storytelling, something that I nurtured from the moment I learned how to write all the way up to the present. I was extremely fortunate to attend a high school with a set of video production courses that allowed me to channel my love for storytelling. I took 5 courses within the program and worked very hard on many different projects, trying to better myself everyday in any way I could. My senior year of high school, I wanted to intern for a video production company so I could start working within my desired field. I contacted every single video production company I could find, emailing, calling, and even showing up in person in order to connect with them. Unfortunately, I did not have much luck with any of the companies I reached out to. That discouraged me for a long time, until one day when I drove past a wedding production company’s office on my way to a bowling match. Something in my head made me slam on the breaks, turn into the parking lot, and walk right in, asking to become an intern. That was truly the beginning of something great for me. After becoming an intern, I quickly impressed the management and became an official employee, working as both a videographer and editor for Complete Weddings + Events. I have had the opportunity to work with them for over a year now, and I’m so grateful that I didn’t give up on myself. I quit my other part time jobs I had been working in order to pursue my passion and focus on furthering my education. I am now in the process of starting my own videography business as well as studying psychology at Harrisburg Area Community College in order to grow my knowledge and skill sets.
