My work as a research assistant at Public Health England related to emergency response, health psychology and health protection. Ongoing research, with a vignette-based questionnaire design, required me to complete advanced statistical analysis (factor analysis and three-way ANOVA) and has enabled me to further develop my proficiency in academic writing. I am highly experienced in the conduct of questionnaire-based research and more experimental laboratory-based research. I have also developed high-quality research and funding proposals which demand working to tight schedules.

Being part of this research team, I have gained experience in engaging young people with low-mood and low self-esteem within a feasibility trial for a novel psychological intervention. Assessments take place within schools, and within term-time. Within the role, my responsibilities are participant recruitment, gaining informed consent and administering experimental memory tasks (autobiographical memory task). This role I have gained further, more clinical, experience in assessing risk in young people with high symptoms of depression and completing appropriate documentation, communication and risk management plan. Future roles, outside of term-times, will involve data-input.
