Electricity is at the forefront of human development. It’s even more crucial in developing countries where electricity in rural areas is scarce, unreliable, or prohibitively expensive. Clean electricity takes it a step further as it adds caring for the environment to the mix.Climate change and global warming are not just buzz words. The evidence for climate change being driven primarily by human activities is compelling. Having been born and raised in El Salvador, I’ve experienced climate change with my own eyes. I’ve seen entire communities being swept away by intense flooding and landslides. I’ve also seen droughts wiping out entire cycles of crops. For those reasons (and many more), I'm grateful for being part of a purpose-driven company that genuinely seeks to make a meaningful impact on the environment and humanity. At AES, we are united in our mission and purpose: accelerating the future of energy, together. Since 2016, we have decarbonized our portfolio and created innovative clean energy solutions to enable our customers to decarbonize also.Since joining AES, I’ve had the opportunity to live and work in Panama, Mexico and the US leading and supporting assignments in 10+ countries and counting. Since 2015, I’ve gone a long way from supporting M&A, project development and project finance projects in Central America and Mexico (including the acquisition and $304m 4(a)(2) project financing of the Mesa La Paz wind development project) to celebrating Fluence Energy's $4.7bn IPO in Times Square at the Nasdaq Bell Ringing Ceremony in 2021. I’m proud of the role I’ve played so far supporting AES’ mission, growth and innovation and decarbonizing the world. My goal as a leader at AES is to inspire people and my dream is to become a role model to purposeful and resilient individuals who want to make an impact and help them become the purpose-driven leaders our world more than ever needs.
