Building relationships by establishing trust while working the Park program “Get Up, Get Out, and Go!” was the key to the program's success. Designed to introduce inner-city children from Cleveland and Akron to the wonders of the natural world, a strong relationship between the Park and the participating community centers was vital. I accomplished this by:-Traveling to each facility to meet the adult supervisors in their own communities. -Wearing a smile and showing kindness.-Summarizing what amazing activities the kids and chaperones would experience while visiting the park for the first time and everything they could possibly learn. During the park activities, I worked diligently to create a culture that promoted safety, respect, and learning. Through my own example of valuing these points, others were more apt to follow. The biggest satisfaction of working this program was seeing the light in a child’s eyes when they learned something new.
