Architect turned Interior Designer and Stylist, Furniture Designer, Photographer, and sometimes Design Writer as well, I've worn a lot of hats in my 2 decades long career. Studying architecture gave me a deep understanding of space and design, form and composition, which has helped me across the various design sensibilities. After architecture college, I started work with an architecture firm, stumbled onto a job with a interior and furniture lifestyle studio where I learned the craft at grass-root level, working with artisans and vendors closely. I also did a stint at corporate interiors where I worked on 1000s of square feet of space for MNCs such as HSBC, KPMG, working in tandem with project management teams. While working in corporate interiors gave me the opportunity to learn project management, get introduced to new technology and materials, the monotony of corporate interiors was not for me. In 2008, I started my journey as a designpreneur and founded Spaces Within, an Interior Design Consultancy firm. In 2015 I co-founded Kaava, The Design Studio and expanded into design+build and hand-crafted, custom designed furniture. This period was graced with multiple design awards. I took a sabbatical from work in 2018 when I moved to Singapore. I explored other facets of design such as Design Writing, Photography, creating moodboards and exploring the architecture of Singapore. In 2022, I restarted Spaces Within offering Design and Photography services. My design philosophy tends towards being minimalistic, be climatically aligned, source local as much as possible, use natural materials, work with artisans and craftsmen, use colors and textures to enhance experiences, all the while keeping it tuned to the client's requirements. With years of experience in photographing our own projects and products, I understand the need for good photographs that portray our brand well. That, combined with great compositions and styling is what I bring on the table while taking images of products and brand.Round 2 of entrepreneurship has just started. The future looks exciting and promising, in a new location and new services on offer.
